A Wakarusa man was arrested Friday, December 4, after police investigated the scene of an accident in the 2,000 block of Dogwood Road in Bremen.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was notified of the accident to Houston accident attorney around 2 a.m. and that the vehicle left the scene, according to the report. When they located the suspects and the vehicle, officers say they were given false information about the events of the accident.
After further investigation, 21-year-old Christopher Starr was reportedly found to be the driver of the vehicle that left the scene. Officers also reportedly suspected Starr of driving under the influence of alcohol. Starr was transported to the local hospital for a certified test that allegedly showed he was two times over the legal limit of alcohol consumption when operating a vehicle.
Starr was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle with an ACE of .15 or more, failure to report an accident, and false informing hindering law enforcement. Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Starr has since bonded out of the Marshall County Jail.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Bremen Police Department.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
