A smaller number of COVID-19 cases were reported locally, according to Monday’s information from the Indiana Department of Health.
Marshall County had 12 new cases for a new overall total of 3,648 cases, Starke County had 12 new cases for a new overall total of 1,153 cases, and Pulaski County had 15 new cases for a new overall total of 561.
The Indiana Department of Health announced that 5,700 more residents in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19 for a new overall total of 387,278.
A total of 5,986 people in the state have died from COVID-19, an increase of 42 from Sunday’s report. None of those deaths occurred in the tri-county area.
According to the state’s coronavirus website, there were 2,345 new student positive COVID-19 cases in the state from September 23 through December 4. There were 512 new teacher positive COVID-19 cases from September 27 through December 4, and 642 new staff positive COVID-19 cases from October 5 through December 4.
Local schools are reporting five or less new student, staff, and teacher cases from last week at each facility. Culver Academies had nine new student COVID-19 cases last week for a new overall total of 121. Many local schools are reporting a total of 20 or less COVID-19 cases in students, teachers and staff members.
