The Plymouth School Board members considered a change in the 2020-2021 school calendar during their meeting last week.
Superintendent Andy Hartley explained that he plans to add five eLearning days to the calendar. Two will be the Monday and Tuesday before Christmas break and one day in January, one day in February and one day in March.
“The hope with this is to provide reprieve in multiple fronts,” stated Hartley. “It’s for our staff and the work that they’re doing, in our staffing and the ability to try to predict what some of that relief may need to be in order to make sure that we can keep our buildings staffed, and then also it could provide some relief with respect to lessening the amounts that may need to be quarantined in certain situations.”
Hartley added that it was a proposal that works the best for everyone. He said the action came to the board last week in an effort to get the information out to families to prepare for those days.
The school board approved the recommendation with a unanimous vote.
