The final phase of the REES Theater project is a step closer to getting underway. The Plymouth City Council approved a pair of agreements last week allowing grant funding from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to be passed through the city to the project committee.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi explained that one was simply an updated version of the sub-recipient agreement that was presented to council members last year. “That just outlines the relationship with the REES Theater group, that the city is the primary recipient of the grant funds from OCRA, and then they’re passed through to the REES for their phase four construction project that will go out to bid later in December,” Surrisi told council members.
He said a contract is expected to be signed in February, and invoices will be processed by the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office after being approved by the project architect. Council members also ratified the primary grant agreement with OCRA that was already signed by Mayor Mark Senter.
The fourth phase of the REES Theater project will focus on the interior renovations, including reconfiguring the main theater to tiered seating, a new dressing room and greenroom in the basement, and ADA-accessible restrooms in the lobby.
