The number of new local positive COVID-19 cases remains low.  Monday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health shows five new cases in Marshall County, 18 new cases in Starke County and six new cases in Pulaski County.

Those new cases pushes Marshall County’s overall COVID-19 case count to 4,385. Starke County’s total count is 1,529 and Pulaski County’s overall case count is now 824.

The state reported 2,494 additional people in the state who were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Monday’s report with another 43 deaths.  One of those deaths occurred in Marshall County.

The state’s coronavirus website shows another 390 students tested positive with COVID-19, with 98 more teacher positive cases and 103 staff positive cases.  Many school corporations are closed for the holidays, and many of the cases occurred between November 20 and December 25 and were recently reported to the state as results may be delayed.  Only a handful of those tests were reported locally.
