The Indiana Department of Health announced Friday that 8,003 additional people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the state with 41 cases of those reported in Marshall County, 33 in Starke County and 20 in Pulaski County.
The total number of cases in Marshall County since the pandemic began is 3,472. In Starke County, the total is 1,076 and it is 517 in Pulaski County.
The state reported 84 new COVID-19 deaths between November 24 and December 3, with two of those residents from Marshall County have one resident from Pulaski County.
The 20-29 age group makes up the largest percentage of positive cases with 18.8 percent followed by the 40-49 age group with 15 percent, the 30-39 age group with 14.9 percent, and then the 50-59 age group at 14.6 percent. The 0-19 age group had 13.8 percent of the reported positive COVID-19 cases in the state.
Patients are in varying stages of fighting the virus and recovering from the virus. According to the Regenstrief Institute, about 27 percent of the state’s COVID-19 patients are actively fighting the virus, while 71 percent have recovered and two percent have died.
The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients on Friday was 3,289 and that number is trending downward. The highest number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients was on November 30 with 3,460.
