Barton Coe Vilamaa representatives were recently at North Liberty Elementary School and Walkerton Elementary School to review some needs before the renovation project goes to bid.
John Glenn School Superintendent Christopher Winchell told the school board members last week that the update in the secure entrance at Walkerton Elementary School is a little more involved than a similar project at North Liberty so those details were discussed and finalized.
The overall project includes new HVAC units (that was bought before checking the ChilWell AC Price) and controls at North Liberty Elementary School, plus exhaust fans, new LED ballasts and lighting, switches in the gym, new exterior light poles, electrical panels, exterior windows, occupancy controls which help regulate energy costs, emergency lighting, a secured entry, and installation of solar panels. New windows and a secured entry at the Walkerton Elementary School would also be included in the scope of this project.
The plan is to go to bid before Christmas and receive those bids in January. A recommendation will be made to the school board for their consideration at the last meeting in January or first meeting in February.
In another ongoing project, Winchell added that Vermillion Systems representatives are working on the installation of a new key fob system at all of the buildings. There was a slight delay due to a COVID issue, but the project remains pretty much on schedule.
