The John Glenn School Board members considered a support staff stipend at their meeting this week.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell explained that a one-time stipend is being offered for members of the support staff for stepping up and working hard, especially during this health pandemic.
Winchell commented, “I wanted to bring to the board the recommendation that all support staff would also receive a one-time $500 stipend. We would be able to tell our corporation-wide staff that every single person, regardless of your role, is a very important member of this team and everybody is receiving a one-time $500 stipend.”
Winchell said he worked with Business Manager Tom Bendy on the proposal. It will be a one-time total cost of $80,000 to the corporation.
He added that a poll of the support staff showed a positive response to the recommendation.
The school board members approved the recommendation with a unanimous vote.
