There are now 36 counties that are displayed in the red coded category on the Indiana Department of Health’s COVID-19 County Metrics map which means there is a very high positivity and community spread of COVID-19 in those areas.
Included in the red coded counties locally is Pulaski County. Local health officials are enacting stricter guidelines as outlined in Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order.
Fifty-six counties in the state are coded orange, including Starke, Marshall, Fulton, Kosciusko, St. Joseph and La Porte Counties. Porter County’s status was reduced to orange after previously being in the red.
Marshall County and Pulaski County reported one additional COVID-19 death in each county. The state reported 98 new deaths in Wednesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health which occurred between November 6 and December 8.
Marshall County had 53 new cases of COVID-19 for a new overall total of 3,729, Starke County had 32 new cases for a new overall total of 1,201, and Pulaski County had 14 new cases for a new overall total of 584.
