A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Wednesday, December 16 at 11 a.m. for the future construction of a Permanent Supportive Housing Project at 1804 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
Saint Katharina Kasper Serenity Place will feature 18 units of permanent supportive housing for very low-income individuals and families with children experiencing homelessness. The project will include four one-bedroom units, ten two-bedroom units, and four three-bedroom units for approximately 11,000 square feet of residential space and 5,000 square feet of community space.
Garden Court, Inc. initiated the development of this project following a study in 2016 that features this type of housing need in Plymouth. Bradley Company will manage the project when leased.
When complete, there will be local partner organizations that will provide transportation, case management services, mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention, monthly food and clothing allotments, education opportunities, and preventive health services to residents, according to a news release.
Officials say Garden Court’s Serenity Place project was funded with grant funds from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, and the Community Foundation of Marshall County, as well as donations from the City of Plymouth, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, and Lake City Bank. Funding was rounded out with loans from Lake City Bank and the Indiana Corporation for Supportive Housing.
