Some Culver Community Schools students won’t return to the classroom until 2021.
Grades seven through 12 have switched to virtual learning through December 18, the last day of the semester. All extracurricular events have been canceled. Students should still attend their vocational classes. Preschool through sixth grade will continue to learn in-person.
In her weekly update Wednesday, Superintendent Karen Shuman said two students and five adults have tested positive for COVID-19, while another nine adults are awaiting test results. Shuman says a large number of high school students are considered close contacts and now have to quarantine.
The partial switch to virtual has led to some adjustments to bus transportation. Shuman urges parents to have their kids ready for the bus 15 minutes earlier in the morning. But students riding Bus 17 will be picked up about 40 minutes later than usual today and tomorrow. Culver Community Schools will continue to provide transportation for students attending vocational programs in Knox.
Shuman says the school corporation isn’t able to deliver meals during the school day, but families can make arrangements to pick food up or have it sent home with a sibling.
