COVID-19 Cases Counts Lower in Tri-County Area

The number of new cases in the tri-county area was lower than they have been in the past several days.

Saturday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health showed 4,839 new cases of COVID-19 in the state with 23 of those cases in Marshall County, 19 new cases in Starke County and nine new cases in Pulaski County.

The Indiana Department of Health reported 73 new COVID-19 deaths in the state from December 2 to December 18, which pushed the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 7,017.

The 7-day positivity rate for all tests in Marshall County is 7.3 percent which is below the state’s overall rate at 12.4 percent.  Starke County’s 7-day positivity rate for all tests is 13.4 percent.  Pulaski County showed 14.4 percent in that statistic. 

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations continues on a downward trend. The state reported 2,932 people hospitalized with COVID-19 on Saturday, the first time the number has been under 3,000 since mid-November.
