Voter Turnout High in Marshall County

About 68 percent of voters cast a ballot in Marshall County in the 2020 General Election. 

The number of mail-in absentee ballots totaled 2,798, there were 7,329 walk-in voters and 10,016 people voted at the polls on Election Day. 

In the Marshall County Council At-Large race, Republicans Jesse Bohannon, Tim Harman and Incumbent Jim Masterson received the top three votes out of the six candidates in that race who will be taking seats on the council on January 1.  Jennifer Hurford retained her seat on the Argos School Board District 5 – Walnut Township and Suzanne Ginter retained her seat on the Bremen School Board in District II – Out of Town. 

Incumbent Karen Lee had 586 votes to J.D Uebler’s 537 votes in the Culver School Board District 5 – Town of Culver race in Marshall County.  Kurt A. Christiansen won a three-way race for the Plymouth School Board District III – Plymouth seat against Dalton Tinklenberg and Incumbent Robin Cupka. 

Other winners in races in Marshall County include Republican Todd Rokita for Attorney General, Republican Jackie Walorski for U.S. Representative in District 2, Republican Ryan Mishler for State Senator District 9, Republican Stacey Donato for State Senator District 18, and Republican Jack Jordan for State Representative in District 17.

Marshall County Clerk Deb VanDeMark commented that eight ballots were rejected where signatures did not match so those voters will be contacted to have their ballots counted and four provisional ballots remain.  The Marshall County Election Board will meet soon to decide what to do with those ballots as allowed by statute.
