Two More Starke County Residents Die of COVID-19 on Thanksgiving

Two more Starke County residents died of COVID-19 on Thanksgiving Day, according to Saturday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health. That brings Starke County’s total number of COVID-19 deaths up to 24.

Another 12 positive cases have been reported in Starke County for a total of 961. Marshall County added 31 cases for a new total of 3,149. Another 16 Pulaski County residents have tested positive, bringing the total to 434. The state-calculated positivity rates went up to 13.3 percent in Starke County and 8.5 percent in Marshall County, while Pulaski County’s positivity rate continued its decline, dropping to 7.9 percent.

The state as a whole had another 4,535 positive cases, pushing the total over 329,000. Another 66 Hoosiers have died, for a confirmed death count of 5,394. The number of Hoosiers who are believed to have died as a result of COVID-19 but didn’t have a positive test increased to 269. The state had 3,381 COVID-19 patients in the hospital as of Friday, just short of Wednesday’s record.
