Over 5,000 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Indiana

The Indiana Department of Health announced Saturday that another 5,007 residents have tested positive with COVID-19 which pushes the state’s overall total to 205,722 since the beginning of the pandemic.

A total of 4,348 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 43 from Friday’s report. 

Health officials say Saturday’s results come from a record number of 50,610 tests submitted in the last 24 hours. 

In Marshall County, 38 more people were diagnosed with COVID-19 and another person has died from the virus.  The total number of cases in Marshall County is up to 1,911.  Starke County’s case count grew by 14 Saturday for a total of 620 overall cases.  One more person has died of COVID-19 in Starke County and in Pulaski County.  Pulaski County also reported 13 new COVID-19 cases for an overall total of 245. 

Health officials remind residents to wash hands frequently, wear masks while out in public, stay home if sick, and maintain a social distance from people outside of the household.
