Marshall County Clerk Deb VanDeMark asked the Marshall County Council members to approve CARES Act funding through the Secretary of State’s Office.
She explained that she has already received the money in the amount of $4,231.14 for reimbursement of costs incurred from the Primary Election from the costs of sending more mail-in ballots. The council approved the grant application even though the money has already been received.
VanDeMark said a second application is available to submit reimbursement costs in the General Election.
VanDeMark commented, “What we do is we compare the expenses to our election in 2016 to see how much additional expenses we had for this election versus that election. They will reimburse us for that amount as long as they don’t run out of money.”
That application was also approved.
VanDeMark added that an additional appropriation for $1,000 was being requested for absentee workers, which was later approved. Another additional appropriation request will be submitted in December for another $3,530 to cover the rest of needed expenses to pay election workers.
