LaVille Elementary School students will be moving to virtual learning beginning Wednesday, November 18 with preliminary plans to return to in-person instruction on Monday, November 30.
Union-North United School Corporation Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter stated in a letter to parents that the decision was made after a consultation with the Health Department with a rise in students and staff members who are either COVID-19 positive or a close contact to people who have tested positive with the virus.
The Elementary School joins the LaVille Junior/Senior High School students in virtual learning as the switch was made at the higher grade levels last week.
The Elementary School cafeteria staff will continue with breakfast and lunches at this time. Deliveries will be made to homes on Thursday with delivery each day through November 24. There will be no food service November 25-27.
Mawhorter pleaded with parents to keep students home from school if they are sick, develop symptoms or come in close contact with someone who has tested positive with COVID-19. He asks that everyone wear a mask in public and take precautions by maintaining a social distance.
