The Bremen Town Council members took action Monday night to move forward with separating the water and street superintendent positions.
The utilities were combined about 30 years ago, but Water, Stormwater and Street Superintendent Alex Mikel told the town council it is time to start thinking about an additional utility superintendent to oversee operations.
Mikel said he would assume the water superintendent’s responsibilities if another person could be hired either in-house or externally for the street superintendent’s position.
The town council members approved a motion Monday night to advertise for a new street superintendent. The salary will be in the range of $59,000 to $63,000 a year which can be supported in the 2021 budget. The position will be advertised for two weeks and then interviews will be set up with applicants with the hopes of putting someone in the position by the first of the year.
