Plymouth Street in Downtown Bremen was scheduled to reopen this past weekend. Now, town officials are trying to figure out why it was still closed as of Monday.
Ken Jones from engineering firm Jones Petrie Rafinski told the town council Monday that it appears the project will run well beyond the completion date. He plans to ask the Troyer Group and the contractor how they plan to finish it. “The 20th was a hard deadline, so I’m assuming that they’re going to ask for more time,” Jones said. “Of course, they’ve got to justify that. There may be some things that we can easily review and approve, but if the street closure ran out with INDOT, it’s going to be either up to Troyer or up to the contractor to see to it that it gets extended.”
Jones said he’d expected that, even if the project wasn’t entirely complete, they would at least allow traffic to start passing through. The project is one of the improvements planned as part of Marshall County Crossroads’ Stellar Community designation.
