Bourbon Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger explained an issue with some utility bills.
She told the Bourbon Town Council last week that the old water meters read gallons in four digits and the new meters read gallons in five digits. She said when the conversion happened, the readings were incorrect.
“So, for about two-and-a-half months, probably a little over 100 of our customers should have maybe been charged for 40 units of water was only getting charged for four due to the decimal point placement,” said Berger.
They found the error when there was a major water leak and the charges were not right. As a result, Berger said they went through all of the 800 utility customers and fixed the meters to all read gallons with five digits.
Berger asked residents to call Town Hall with any more questions.
In other discussions last week, Street Superintendent Roger Terry told the Bourbon Town Council members that the last day for leaf pick-up is Wednesday, November 25.
