The Triton School Board considered a COVID Family Leave recommendation during their meeting last week.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle explained that this applies to families that are affected by a COVID quarantine, specifically younger children that are affected and not necessarily sick and the teacher is not necessarily sick.
“In that case, for the Family Leave Act right now for the coronavirus piece, they only get sixty-six percent of their pay,” commented Riffle. “So what we did is we incentivized them and made it to where they only would only have to take a half of a sick day to make sure that they got their full pay as long as they were able to be in the classroom as much as possible and not have to take as many of those sick days.”
The board approved the recommendation as presented.
