The number of local people testing positive for COVID-19 is increasing at a rapid rate.
The case numbers in Marshall County increased by 32 in Monday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health which pushes the overall total number of cases to 1,189. Nine new cases were reported in Starke County for a new cumulative total of 340 and Pulaski County had two new cases for a new total of 124.
The number of new tests reported in Marshall County is 124, Starke County had 48 new tests and Pulaski County had nine.
The state reported 1,581 new cases for an overall total of 136,555. Another six people in the state have died from COVID-19 for a total of 3,568.
Information is reported based on when data is received by the state and occurred over multiple days.
According to the Regenstrief Institute, 81 percent of patients have recovered from COVID-19 while 16 percent of patients are actively fighting the virus.
Of the schools reporting statewide school statistics, there have been 2,387 total positive student cases, 481 total positive teacher cases and 542 total positive staff cases.
