Marshall County Health Officer Dr. Byron Holm is assuming the interim duties of the Marshall County Health Administrator as Ashley Garcia is no longer with the Health Department.
Dr. Holm stated in a press release that the Health Department will continue to meet the needs of the community, especially when it comes to COVID-19. He said the Health Department will continue to work diligently with the schools, businesses and community members to slow the spread of COVID-19.
He asks that residents wear masks whenever possible, maintain a social distance, wash and sanitize hands, avoid crowds, and stay home if sick. Dr. Holm stated, “All these practices will help keep our schools open, our businesses running and our residents healthy.”
Dr. Holm noted that the nursing homes and other nursing facilities in Marshall County have been closed to visitors to protect residents who most vulnerable to COVID-19 infections.
The Health Department may have heated outdoor testing sites available soon to serve county residents. The mobile medical unit is expected to arrive in December which could be used for COVID-19 testing, immunizations and vaccinations.
