The annual holiday parade and Christmas tree lighting in the City of Plymouth on Saturday, November 28 has been canceled due to the ongoing concerns surrounding the community spread of COVID-19.
Mayor Mark Senter stated in a press release that he believes it’s necessary to protect the citizens of Plymouth. The annual holiday parade of lights and Christmas tree lighting is organized by the City of Plymouth, Discover Plymouth and the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce that coordinates arts and cultural programming and welcomes a visit from Santa Claus.
This holiday tradition typically marks the beginning of the holiday season and as part of a Shop Small, Small Business Saturday movement for downtown, local businesses.
Mayor Senter encourages residents to continue the tradition of visiting local businesses on Small Business Saturday and throughout the holiday season. He hopes that the annual holiday festivities can resume next year.
