An additional 1,945 people in the state have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Saturday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. That’s the largest single-day increase of cases reported in the state to date. That brings the state’s overall total number of COVID-19 cases to 133,411.
The local number of people diagnosed with the virus continues to jump. Marshall County saw another double digit increase in Saturday’s report with 14 new cases while Starke County had an increase of seven and Pulaski County had an increase of three. The total number of cases in Marshall County to date is now 1,137, Starke County is up to 323 and Pulaski County climbed to 121.
Another 21 people have died from COVID-19 for a new overall total of 3,555. None of those deaths occurred in the tri-county area.
The Indiana Department of Health reports that 32.3 percent of ICU beds are available statewide. Over 50 percent of the beds in use are being occupied by non-COVID-19 patients. Just over 15 percent of beds are being used by COVID-19 patients. Only four percent of the state’s ventilators are being used by COVID patients.
