Two Arrested on Drunk Driving Charges in Separate Incidents at Jellystone Campground

Deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to two separate incidents at the Jellystone Campground in Plymouth on Sunday where the drivers were allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Police say that 18-year-old Alexis Schapiro of Lake Station, Indiana was driving a vehicle at the campground and was involved in a property damage accident around 2:30 a.m.  Police found that she was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.  She was transported to the Plymouth hospital for a chemical test which showed her to be two times over the legal limit of alcohol to operate a vehicle, according to the report.

Schapiro was booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle with an ACE of .15 or more, and illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.  She later bonded out of jail.

About 45 minutes later, officers were called back to the campground following a call of a man who rolled a golf cart.  Police say 43-year-old John Kitzke of Joliet, Illinois was transported to the Plymouth hospital for a chemical test which apparently showed that Kitzke was under the influence.

Kitzke was booked into the Marshall County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with an ACE of .15 or more.  Kitzke has since bonded out of jail.

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
