The Plymouth City Council members considered a resolution Monday night that would declare property at 2935 Vanvactor Drive as an Economic Revitalization Area which paves the way for a tax abatement request.
Marshall County Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Jerry Chavez explained that the expansion project in on top of an investment on the property. Jingu North America Corporation and Indiana Wheel Company started production last year in Plymouth.
Jingu CEO David Saylor said about 110 employees work at the facility now and another crew will be hired in the near future. Indiana Wheel Company manufactures RV and trailer wheels. Saylor said Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) will be added to the company for the manufacture of steel wheels for cars and light trucks. Jingu North American Corporation is the primary investor and owns about half of Indiana Wheel. Jingu is making the request for the Economic Revitalization Area and is planning an investment of $31.3 million to expand production.
The city council members unanimously approved the resolution as presented.
