Marshall County Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Jerry Chavez is leaving the corporation.
The announcement was made Thursday in a release submitted by the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.
Chavez came to the corporation in 2014 to put forth efforts to fulfill its mission to strengthening and diversifying the local economy. The leadership provided the county’s recognition in capturing the most industrial capital investment in a five-county region in 2019 at $161 million with such projects as the Argos Manufacturing Center and other strategic development. Corporation officials say managed or developed strategies captured $5.4 million of the $5.8 million awarded to Marshall County projects by the North Central Indiana Regional Development Authority.
Prior to his departure, Chavez has a goal of developing a two-part plan that will ensure that current projects will continue until a new President and CEO is found.
“It’s truly been a pleasure to work with leadership in Marshall County,” stated Chavez. “I think together we’ve done some amazing things. I’m really thankful for the friendships that have been developed over the last six-and-a-half years. I think the Lord is opening a door for me and I think he wants me to help another region in another part of the U.S. I think if I’m able to be successful in organizing the effort here in Marshall County, if I have an opportunity I’ll have the same impact for a larger population elsewhere.”
He will be at the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation until the end of October.
