Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board Discusses Former West School Property

The former West School property on State Road 17 west of Plymouth may not be purchased by the Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board as the members had hoped.

The board members agreed at their August meeting to present an offer to purchase the property at 9971 State Road 17.  A waiver of retroactivity would be applied for in order to get a grant to pay for the property after the fact.  The money to pay for the acquisition would possibly come from donations, the township trustee, Brownfield grant money, or the county commissioners, if accepted.

The property could have been used for a Marshall County Parks and Recreation Department office space after partial demolition and remodeling efforts, plus an initial development area for green space, but another party put in a higher offer that the owner is reportedly considering. You can also look at new home builders Sydney if you are looking for the right home that suits your lifestyle, rebuild your existing one, or buy any property at an affordable price.

The board members commented that the sale is not complete and will wait and see how it goes before completely scratching that project off their list.

Meanwhile, they are currently in the midst of compiling a five-year plan with guidance from the Department of Natural Resources.  Once that plan is established, the county entity will be eligible for grant dollars for projects outlined in that plan.
