Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the commissioners this week that the repaving project on Michigan Road north of the roundabout in Plymouth is complete. Walsh and Kelly crews worked on the project and it came in $2,500 under budget.
Peters said the highway department has been working to update the side roads in that area to compliment the major project.
“7th, 5D, 5A, Keiser Subdivision and 4B Road were covered with millings, graded out, rolled, primed and chip sealed,” explained Peters. “On 4A, we chip sealed from Michigan up to the U.S. 31 bridge, 6C we paved with our pug millings, and 5C we wedged with our millings. We still have to wedge and level 7B and we’re planning to do some spot wedging on 6th Road.”
To finish out this year’s road program, Peters said he hopes to get to Thorn Road, 17B, 1st Road, 8th Road, and South Shore at Lake Maxinkuckee. Those projects will include wedge and level work, paving, and chip sealing. He commented that he submitted an additional appropriation in the amount of $250,000 to do paving on King Road from 10th to E&B plant, 11th Road from South Michigan Road to the railroad, and Castle Drive from 11th to Lupine.
In addition, Walsh and Kelly crews were anticipated to start on the Pine Road from 7B to 7th this week.
