Several building projects are underway at the Culver Community School Corporation.
Superintendent Karen Shuman said the roofing projects at the high school and the elementary school are nearly complete.
“Hopefully, by the end of October all roofing projects will be finished if all of the materials are present,” commented Shuman. “We also have a door project going on. We’re replacing all exterior doors and some interior doors, along with hardware and closures for some doors that have been identified. At this point as doors come in, they replace them. I think at this point they have 20 of about 400 doors that are being replaced.”
The fencing project will get underway once materials are available. The bid award was tabled for the proposed bus garage and annex building construction projects. Shuman said more information is being gathered on site development.
These projects are being paid for out of $3.2 million in General Obligation Bonds sold to make several upgrades. The corporation received a $100,000 School Safety Grant which will be applied toward the cost of that project.
