The Argos School Board members Monday night approved a one-time payment to all school employees for appreciation of efforts this summer and fall during the public health emergency, as recommended by Superintendent Ned Speicher.
Speicher said employees put in extra hours in order to safely reopen schools and to prepare for a school year in accordance to guidelines from the CDC and the Marshall County Health Department.
The classified staff will receive a one-time payment of $300 and the teachers will receive a one-time payment of $500. Speicher noted that the school corporation is in a financial position to offer that appreciation payment.
Speicher added that the school year is going well so far. There have been a few cases of COVID-19 and some students have had to be in isolation. Overall, Speicher commented that students and parents have been following guidelines when it comes to social distancing and wearing masks, even when it comes to athletics. He appreciates everyone’s cooperation in helping to keep schools open.
