Students in the Union-North United School Corporation will move to a hybrid learning model beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter stated in a Facebook post that students will be divided up into “Blue” and “White” days. Students in the Blue group will be in-person on Mondays and Wednesdays while students in the White group will attend school in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fridays will be a virtual learning day for all students.
Students may continue on a virtual learning option as the transition is made, but Mawhorter says the school needs to be notified of that decision.
Mawhorter stated that school officials have been working with the St. Joseph County Health Department through the process. As a result, the school is able to return to a hybrid plan and use protocols to keep students and staff members safe.
He thanked all of the teachers, nurses, administrators and the health officials in St. Joseph and Marshall Counties for collaborative efforts.
