Restoration Work Done on Historic Bremen Park Equipment

The old rocking horses that used to be available for children to play on at Sunnyside Park have been restored.

Bremen Park Superintendent Brian Main told the Bremen Town Council last week that the rocking horses used to be mounted on large springs, but due to a safety risk they were removed as requested by the insurance company.

Main said the six rocking horses were at Sunnyside Park near its beginning and the Park Board decided to have them restored and mounted on posts in concrete as a display of history at the park.  They had been in a scrap metal pile for more than a decade.

Main commented that most parks that had the rocking horses as a playground feature had them removed for the same safety reason.

The horses will be remounted in Sunnyside Park in the next couple of weeks in the same location from where they were extracted.
