Plymouth City Council Holds First Reading on Plymouth Community Ambulance Service Ordinance

The Plymouth City Council members held the first reading on an ordinance that amends the city code provisions regarding the Plymouth Community Ambulance Service.

The rates were adjusted after not being updated since 2008.  City leaders and representatives from the city’s medical billing consultant, AccuMed Group, believe it is necessary to raise the rates and charges in order to better reflect actual costs.

Refusal of transport for Basic Life Support for residents will be $150 while non-residents will be charged $200.  Basic Life Support for residents will be $450 and $17 per loaded mile, Advanced Life Support will be $550 and $17 per loaded mile, and Advanced Life Support 2 will be $850 and $17 per loaded mile.   Non-residents will be charged $100 more per service.

Medicare and Medicaid patients will not be charged more than what those fee schedules are for those entities.

Additional readings of the ordinance will be held at the next meeting of the Plymouth City Council on Aug. 24.
