The Pioneer Drive project will involve a staggered closure schedule beginning tomorrow.
According to Walsh and Kelly crews, there was an issue with a gas line which delayed the start of the project. They say NIPSCO has agreed to allow workers to remove the road surface so that gas line can be repaired so everything can proceed.
As a result, Pioneer Drive from Gary Drive to Commerce Street will be closed beginning Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 7 a.m. with a tentative reopening date of Sept. 10.
The second phase of the project will close Pioneer Drive from Commerce Street to 7B Road beginning Sept. 2 at 7 a.m. with a tentative reopening date of Sept. 25.
Officials say barricades and signage will be in place during the closure. Detour routes will be posted.
