The Marshall County Traffic Safety Partnership, along with the Indiana State Police, La Porte County and La Porte City Police Departments will be participating in the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement mobilization.
The effort will be ongoing through the Labor Day holiday. Officers will be conducting overtime patrols in order to seek out drunk drivers. They will show zero tolerance for drivers operating a vehicle while impaired.
It is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher. Drivers under the age of 21 with a BAC of .02 or higher are subject to fines and having their license suspended for up to one year.
Designate a sober driver if attending an event where alcohol is served. Do not let someone drive a car if that person has been drinking. Motorists who encounter a drunk driver on the road are encouraged to call 911.
The Marshall County Traffic Safety Partnership is a cooperative of officers from the Bremen, Bourbon, Plymouth, Argos, and Culver Police Departments, along with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
The campaign is supported with funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
