The John Glenn School Board members got an update last week on Superintendent Christopher Winchell’s research into a potential solar project at the North Liberty Elementary School.
Winchell told the board that Baker Tilly officials will be at the board’s next meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 6 to review financing for such a project. At the same time, more information would be given about what the project would look like and how it would benefit the school.
So far, Winchell said the project could be paid off in 10 years with an annual savings of about $90,000 in electric costs at that school. Additionally, the project could bring about curriculum for students looking at renewable energy.
Following those discussions, the board would vote on whether or not to move forward with the project.
