The John Glenn School Corporation will move to hybrid instruction on Tuesday, Sept. 8. That means students may return to in-person instruction or stay in a virtual learning setting.
In a letter to parents, Superintendent Christopher Winchell said the corporation has been working with the St. Joseph County Health Department and the decision was made to reopen school with the yellow hybrid phase on Sept. 8. The corporation will continue to work with the Health Department to determine when that phase would be adjusted to full on-campus learning when conditions allow.
Students will attend on-campus in two groups. Students with last names starting with A to L will attend Mondays and Tuesdays. Students with last names starting with M to Z will attend Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays will be eLearning for all students. Students will continue virtual learning when not on campus.
Grab and go meals will continue to be available for pick-up during off-campus days.
The maintenance staff is working hard to keep the schools disinfected at all times to provide a safe learning environment.
Winchell urges staff and students to continue the Health Department’s protocols of washing hands and wearing masks when in public spaces in order to continue the corporation’s path to in-person instruction.
