The John Glenn School Board will discuss the appointment of a new John Glenn School Board member when they meet tonight.
Long-time School Board member Jeff Johnson recently left his seat on the board to take up a maintenance position on staff. The school board approved his employment in that position earlier this month.
The board members will open a 1028 hearing on the corporation’s proposed renovation and improvements proposal. Several improvement projects are proposed at the North Liberty Elementary School including new HVAC units and controls, new exhaust fans, gym switches, upgrading to LED lighting inside and outside the building, replacing all of the older electrical panels in the building, replacing the phone/video entry system, replacing windows, re-roofing needs, replacing interior doors and hardware throughout building, and upgrading the entrance of the building to a more secured entryway.
The total for all improvements is estimated at $3.6 million.
Additionally, the board members will consider several items including project resolutions, a declaration of official intent to reimburse expenditures, a Letter of Intent to move forward with a solar project at the North Liberty Elementary School, and the purchase of PPE supplies. A land donation to the Town of North Liberty for the Stellar Trail project will also be up for the board’s review.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell will provide updates to the board which may include a report on the start of the new school year.
The John Glenn School Board will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the John Glenn High School Auditorium.
