Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters pleads with drivers to pay attention to road signs and proceed with caution through construction zones (check their website here) after a flagger was grazed by a driver on North Michigan Road. Walsh and Kelly crews are repaving that road from the roundabout to 3rd Road.
He said safety at a construction site is always top priority, but drivers must do their best to follow signs posted in and around road construction work.
Peters said when flaggers are directing traffic, follow their instructions and obey road closed signs. In an incident this week, Peters said a driver passed a flagger and grazed the worker not paying attention to the flagger’s sign.
It is a busy road construction season as local public works officials have worked hard to plan road projects in the area. Be mindful of “road closed” and “local traffic only” signs, posted speed limits and flaggers.
