Bremen Park Superintendent Brian Main updated the Bremen Town Council members on Monday concerning requests made by the Pickleball Club.
During the town council’s last meeting, Pickleball Club representatives asked the members to approve a request for dedicated Pickleball courts. At the time, the council members thought it would be best that the Bremen Park Board members consider the requests.
Main said this week that the Park Board considered marking additional Pickleball lines on the existing tennis courts and to leave Pickleball nets up all the time.
In addition, the park board asked Main to seek permission from the town council to enlist the services of Jones Petrie and Rafinski (JPR) to design a six-court Pickleball court.
Main commented that the Pickleball Club members were originally going to pay for a company to design the courts and paint the lines, but Main said the park board members thought it might be better if JPR handle the project to determine a cost.
It is not guaranteed that Pickleball courts would be constructed, but a design would be available if that decision was made.
Bremen Town Councilman Michael Leman, the council’s park liaison, said he thought since this would be for community members and taxpayers this could be the first step toward a solution. However, the cost of the design is not in the 2021 budget.
He added that he thought the park board has been doing a good job in trying to resolve the requests for the Pickleball Club.
The Bremen Town Council members agreed to allow JPR to do the design and come up with a budget for a potential project.
