Bids Opened for Alexander Street Project in Bremen

The Bremen Town Council members opened bids on Monday for the Alexander Street project for the second time.

The council rejected all bids in a July meeting after Ken Jones from the firm Jones Petrie and Rafinski recommended that the council re-bid the project.  He said one company bid the project at over $100,000 less the amount than the other companies who submitted bids.  After consulting with the contractor, there was a bit of confusion when the paperwork was submitted for consideration.

The project includes utility line extensions for possible development in that area of Bremen.  The development of a street is planned in that area in the future.

Only three out of the five companies who previously bid on the project submitted another round of bids.  HRP Construction, Selge Construction, and Haskins Underground submitted figures ranging from almost $132,000 to just over $194,000.  The alternate bids addressed the sanitary portion of the project and those bids ranged from $73,340 to almost $115,000.

The bids were taken under advisement for consideration at the next meeting on Aug. 24.
