School officials at the Union-North United School Corporation made updates to their school reopening plans for the 2020-2021 school year.
Union-North United School Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter said the schools in LaVille will be beginning on a virtual basis. He stated in a message on the school’s Facebook page that the St. Joseph Health Department and Marshall County Health Department’s Public Health Officers have expressed concerns about bringing staff and students back in person on the school’s start date on Aug. 12. Both counties have had a surge of positive COVID-19 cases since the beginning of July.
Mawhorter said each building principal will be sending information about computer pickup times.
Mawhorter also stated that the school year will turn into a hybrid-type of education with a mix of virtual and in-person learning at some point.
More information will be relayed as it becomes available.
