Two people were injured in an accident involving a passenger car and a motorcycle on U.S. 31 near 12B Road in Marshall County on Friday, July 24.
Indiana State Police say a silver 2007 Chevrolet driven by 66-year-old Michael Hall of Vicksburg, Michigan was driving west on 12B Road in Marshall County when he stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 31. Hall reportedly began to cross the northbound lanes to turn south when he pulled into the path of a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling north on U.S. 31.
The motorcycle collided with the driver’s side door of the passenger vehicle which caused the motorcycle’s operator, 23-year-old Tyler Swihart of Plymouth, to be thrown over the handlebars, landing in the center median, according to the report. Swihart was airlifted from the scene with non-life threatening injuries to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Police say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Hall was transported to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth with non-life threatening injuries.
