The Bourbon Town Council will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony tonight to celebrate the renovated downtown square in Bourbon.
The site of the former Bourbon Pharmacy is now home to the Farmer’s Market, the annual Christmas tree lighting and other upcoming events for the Town of Bourbon. It will also allow for more space for Food Truck Fridays.
Electric and water access points are available at the site. The inmates in the Fostering a Recovery Mentality program at the Starke County Justice Center constructed the flower boxes that were donated by Sheriff Bill Dulin for the site. Benches will be placed there in the near future, thanks to a grant received through the Bourbon Main Street Initiative from the Marshall County Community Foundation.
“It is very exciting to see the site of the former Bourbon Pharmacy come to life again and remain an integral part of Downtown Bourbon,” said Ward Byers, Town Council President. “It is the hope of the Town Council to see many events hosted at the site and folks just sitting at the corner and visiting.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony is at 6 p.m. tonight at the corner of Main Street and Center Street. The Farmer’s Market will also be open for business for the first time this season.
