Officials with the Plymouth Community School Corporation updated the reopening plan this week to include the recent requirement from the Marshall County Health Department and its order regarding masks and face coverings.
Superintendent Andy Hartley told MAX 98.3 FM News that the update to the plan will include that students will be wearing masks or face coverings throughout the school day unless they are eating or drinking. He said it falls in line with the Health Department’s guidance.
If students do not have a mask or face covering, one will be provided by the school. If a student forgets a mask or face covering prior to his or her arrival at school, they will be available at the school to be worn throughout the day.
Hartley noted that if students or parents are uncomfortable about sending their child to school with in-person instruction under the circumstances, the school is offering an online curriculum and registration should occur now for that option.
Hartley stressed that things change on a frequent basis, daily and sometimes hourly, and he remains in constant communication with health officials regarding the health and safety of students and staff upon the arrival of the school year. He encourages parents and students to be alert for communication from the school regarding changes to the reopening plan.
There are no plans to delay the start of school at this time, but Hartley said guidance from the Health Department and the state will determine if there is a difference in the start of school and in the manner it is to be offered.
