The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members approved the closure of Pioneer Drive for the upcoming project there.
The purpose of the project is to widen a portion of Pioneer Drive in Plymouth to three lanes to accommodate an increase in truck traffic in that area north of U.S. 30 to 7B Road.
City Engineer Rick Gaul asked the members to approve the closure of the road in phases so the Community Crossings Matching Grant project can get started at the end of July or the beginning of August. He said the road closure could come sooner if Walsh and Kelly crews can get mobilized sooner.
The first phase will close Pioneer Drive south of Commerce and Jack Greenlee Drive.
A detour will be utilized between 7B and Oak Road during the project. A Memorandum of Understanding between Marshall County and the City of Plymouth was previously approved to use that road with a maintenance agreement in that document.
