Walsh and Kelly crews will be working to mobilize equipment and get ready for the upcoming improvement project on Pioneer Drive in Plymouth.
The purpose of the project is to widen a portion of Pioneer Drive in Plymouth to three lanes to accommodate an increase in truck traffic in that area north of U.S. 30 to 7B Road.
Plymouth City Engineer Rick Gaul told the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission members that once a concrete inlet structure is built, Walsh and Kelly crews will start on the project. He anticipates a start date of Aug. 3.
The detour during the project will take drivers on 7B Road between Pioneer and Oak Road.
The project is being done with Community Crossings funds. Walsh and Kelly submitted a bid of $629,515.75 which includes asphalt fog dust control. The dust control was bid as an alternate bid for the project and will not be covered 50 percent with Community Crossings Funds.
The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission members did affirm last week the low bid award submitted by Walsh and Kelly. The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members approved the bid during their meeting on July 13.
