The Marshall County Community Corrections Advisory Board last week agreed to increase the fees for drug tests.
Community Corrections Director Ward Byers explained that lab costs continue to increase and the $15 general cost for testing needs to increase. He asked to increase the cost to $20.
Mouth swab tests are about $17 while the lab cost for urine drug screening is $13 and the instant urine cup test is $5. Byers said there is a general fee for testing to keep it uniform with no breakdown costs. He added that those who are tested are timely with fee payments.
The increase will take effect once the fee schedule is updated in August and clients are notified.
